The sun shone on the 24th. of July this year, making for a very pleasant walk around our estate for Councillor John Millar, our very enthusiastic and independent judge. A total of 30 gardens had been short-listed for scrutiny this year, and John was very impressed with the overall care taken by our residents, altogether a very rewarding task to undertake. First prize, went to Mr & Mrs Varley, 38 Broomhill Crescent, for a beautiful blue and white theme created by Rosemary. Second prize winners, were Mr & Mrs Fisher of 128 Broomhill Crescent, for thoughtful design. The recipients of the third prize, were Mr & Mrs Bell, 126 Beechwood Drive, for a lovely cottage garden style. Highly commended, and the recipients of a bottle of wine, were Mr & Mrs Clark of 165 Broomhill Crescent, for their lovingly tended garden, not forgetting their young grandson Jordan who loves to help them.
This year all our winners received a lovely certificate, designed and produced by Catherine Marsh, and the top three prizes were donated by our ground maintenance contractors, Murdoch Gardening Services. Lomond Home & Pet Care donated the remaining prize. My thanks to goes to Alistair Sweet for his unstinting help. Here’s to next year, and happy gardening everyone.
